佛言：辭親出家為道，名曰沙門，常行二五十戒，為四真道，行進志清淨，成阿羅漢。
Buddha says: farewell parents to become Monk for Tao (way), is known as Monk, always action 250 Must-Nots, for 4 true Tao (way), action advance ambition clean clear, become Sub-Sub-Buddha.
阿羅漢者，能飛行變化，住壽命，動天地。
Sub-Sub-Buddha person, able fly & change appearance, live long life, move Heaven & Earth.
次為阿那含。
Below is Ah Na Han.
阿那含者，壽終魂靈上十九天，於彼得阿羅漢。
Ah Na Han person, lifespan finish soul go up 19th Heaven, finally become Sub-Sub-Buddha.
次為斯陀含者，一上一還，即得阿羅漢。
Below is Si Tuo Han, one up one return, then become Sub-Sub-Buddha.
次為須陀洹者，七死七生，便得阿羅漢。
Below is Xu Tuo Huan person, 7 death 7 birth, then become Sub-Sub-Buddha.
愛欲斷者，譬如四支斷，不復用之。
Love desire cut-off, like 4 limbs cut-off, not return use.
佛言，除鬚髮，為沙門，受道法，去世資財，乞求取足，日中一食，樹下一宿，慎不再矣！
Buddha says, cut-off hairs, become Monk, get Tao (way) Teachings, away world resource money, beg get enough, daily one meal, under tree one night sleep, careful not again chance.
使人愚弊者，愛與欲也。
Make people stupid & faulty, is love & desire.
佛言，眾生以十事為善，亦以十事為惡。
Buddha says, common beings for 10 things as good, & for 10 things as evil.
身三、口四、意三。
For body 3, mouth 4, thought 3.
身三者，殺、盜、婬。
Body 3 are, kill, steal, adultery.
口四者，兩舌、惡罵、妄言、綺語。
Mouth 4 are, 2 tongue (create quarrel between 2 persons), bad scold, lying words, flattery speech.
意三者，嫉、恚、癡，不信三尊，以邪為真。
Thought 3 are, jealousy, anger, ignorance, not believe in 3 Buddhas, think wicked as real.
優婆塞行五事，不懈退，至十事，必得道也。
You Po Sai action 5 things, not relax withdraw, reach 10 things, definitely get Tao (way).
佛言，人有眾過，而不自悔，頓止其心，罪來歸身，猶水歸海，自成深廣矣。
Buddha says, person has many wrong doings, & not self repent, immediate stop his heart, sins come return body, like water return sea, self become deep & wide.
有惡知非，改過得善，罪日消滅，後會得道也。
Have evil know mistake, change mistake get goodness, sin daily disappear, later will get Tao (way).
佛言，人愚吾以為不善，吾以四等慈，護濟之。
Buddha says, person stupid I think as not good, I as 4 etc compassion, protect help.
重以惡來者，吾重以善住。
Heavy come evil person, I heavy use good hold.
福德之氣，常在此也。
Happiness & virtue of Qi (tone), always here.
害氣重殃，反在于彼。
Harm Qi (tone) heavy disasters, instead in other person.
有人聞佛道，守大仁慈，以惡來、以善住，故來罵。
Have someone hears Buddha Tao (way), guard big Ren (humanity) compassion, for evil come, use good guard, therefore come scolding.
佛默然，不答愍之，癡民冥狂愚使然。
Buddha quiet, not answer pity with, ignorant citizen dark wildly stupid with.
罵止問曰，子以禮從人，其人不納，實禮如之乎？
Scold stop then ask him, you use gift to give person, the person not receive, what happen to the gift?
曰持歸。
Says maintain return.
今子罵我，我亦不納，子自持歸。
Today you scold me, I do not receive, you self maintain return.
禍子身矣，猶響應聲，影之道形，終無免離，慎為惡也。
Disaster your body, like sounds respond sounds, shadows response appearance, finally no escape away, careful of doing evil.
佛言，惡人害賢者，猶仰天而唾，唾不污天，還污己身。
Buddha says, evil person harming good person, like face sky & spit, spit does not dirty sky, but dirty self body.
逆風坋人，塵不污彼，還坋于身。
Against wind give dusts to person, dusts not dirty person, but dusts on self.
賢者不可毀，過必滅已也。
Good person cannot be destroy, mistake definitely destroy disappear self.
佛言，夫人為道務博愛，博哀施德莫大施。
Buddha says, you for Tao (way) things & love widely, widely pity give virtue is the greatly.
守志奉道，其福甚大；覩人施道，助之歡喜，亦得福報。
Guard ambition uphold Tao (way), the happiness is very big; see people give Tao (way), help in being happy, also get happiness karma result.
質曰，彼褔不當減乎？
Ask, the happiness will it become lesser?
佛言：猶若炬火，數千百人，各以炬來，取其火去，熟食、除冥。
Buddha says: like lighting torch, many thousands hundreds people, each from one torch come, take fire go, cook foods, get rid darkness.
彼火如故，福亦如之。
Like the fire, happiness also the same.
佛言：飯凡人百，不如飯一善人。
Buddha says: give rice common people hundred, less than give rice one good Person.
飯善人千，不如飯持五戒者一人。
Give rice one thousand good Persons, less than give rice a Person maintaining 5 Must-Nots.
飯持五戒者萬人，不如飯一須陀洹。
Give rice 10,000 persons maintaining 5 Must-Nots, less than give rice one Xu Tuo Huan.
飯須陀洹百萬，不如飯一斯陀含。
Give rice one million Xu Tuo Huan, less than give rice one Si Tuo Han.
飯斯陀含千萬，不如飯一阿那含。
Give rice ten millions Si Tuo Han, less than give rice one Ah Na Han.
飯阿那含一億，不如飯一阿羅漢。
Give rice one billion Ah Na Han, less than give rice one Sub-Sub-Buddha.
飯阿羅漢十億，不如飯辟支佛一人。
Give rice ten billions Sub-Sub-Buddhas, less than give rice one Pi Zhi Buddha.
飯辟支佛百億，不如以三尊之教，度其一世二親。
Give rice hundred billions Pi Zhi Buddha, less than use 3 Buddhas of Religion, save transfer one lifetime 2 parents.
教千億，不如飯一佛，學願求佛，欲濟眾生也。
Teach thousand billions parents, less than give rice one Buddha, learn wish seek Buddha, desire assisting common beings.
飯善人，福最深重。
Give rice good Person, happiness is most deep heavy.
凡人事天地鬼神，不如孝其親矣，二親最神也。
For human affairs Heaven & Earth & ghosts & gods, less than filial piety your parents, 2 parents are most godly.
佛言，天下有五難：貧窮布施難、豪貴學道難、制命不死難、得覩佛經難、生值佛世難。
Buddha says, under Heaven has 5 Difficult: low-class poor give donation difficult, rich high-class learn Tao (way) difficult, control life not die difficult, get see Buddha Scripture difficult, born Buddha in world difficult.
有沙門問佛：以何緣得道，奈何知宿命？
Has Monk ask Buddha: for what fate get Tao (way), how to know past lives?
佛言：道無形，知之無益，要當守志行。
Buddha says: Tao (way) no appearance, know is no benefit, need maintain guard ambition action.
譬如磨鏡，垢去明存，即自見形，斷欲守空，即見道真，知宿命矣。
Like rubbing mirror, dirt gone brightness remain, then self see appearance, cut-off desire guard emptiness, then see Tao (way) real, know past lives.
佛言：何者為善？
Buddha says: what thing is good?
唯行道善。
Only action Tao (way) is good.
何者最大？
What thing is biggest?
志與道合大。
Ambition with Tao (way) same is biggest.
何者多力？
What thing many efforts?
忍辱最健，忍者無怨，必為人尊。
Endure insults is most efforts, enduring person no resentment, definitely get people respect.
何者最明？
What thing is most bright?
心垢除、惡行減，內清淨無瑕；未有天地，逮于今日，十方所有，未見之萌，得無不知、無不見、無不聞，得一切智，可謂明乎。
Heart dirt remove, evil action minus, inner clean clear no flaw; no have Heaven & Earth, catch on today, 10 directions what have, not see the sprouting, get no not know, no not see, no not hear, get all Wisdom, can say it is bright.
佛言：人懷愛欲不見道。
Buddha says: people who embrace love desire do not see Tao (way).
譬如濁水，以五彩投其中，致力攪之，眾人共臨水上，無能覩其影者。
Like dirty water, use 5 colours drop inside, make effort to stir, people together above water, unable to see their shadows.
愛欲交錯，心中為濁，故不見道。
Love desires cross, heart inside become dirty, therefore not see Tao (way).
水澄穢除，清淨無垢，即自見形。
Water clean dirt clear, clean clear no dirt, then self see appearance.
猛火著釜下，中水踴躍，以布覆上，眾生照臨，亦無覩其影者。
Fierce fire below pot, inside water dance boiling, use cloth cover, common beings still above, because no see the shadows.
心中本有三毒湧沸在內，五蓋覆外，終不見道。
Heart inside originally have 3 poisons fierce boiling inside, 5 cover outside, finally not see Tao (way).
要三垢盡，乃知魂靈所從來，生死所趣向，諸佛國土、道德所在耳。
Want 3 dirt clean completely, is to know soul from where, born & death go where, all Buddhas Country soils, Tao (way) & virtues all can hear.
佛言：夫為道者，譬如持炬火，入冥室中，其冥即滅，而明猶在。
Buddha says: you for Tao (way), like taking fire torch, enter dark room inside, the darkness immediately disappear, only brightness remain.
學道見諦，愚癡都滅，得無不見。
Learn Tao (way) see Meanings, stupidity all disappear, get no not see.
佛言：吾何念念道？
Buddha says: I how think think Tao (way)?
吾何行行道？
I how action action Tao (way)?
吾何言言道？
I how say say Tao (way)?
吾念諦道，不忽須臾也。
I think Meaning Tao (way), no away from.
佛言：覩天地念非常，覩山川念非常，覩萬物形體豐熾念非常。
Buddha says: see Heaven & Earth think not always, see mountain & valley think not always, see all thing appearance body full of fire thoughts not always.
執心如此，得道疾矣。
Fixed heart like that, get Tao (way) fast.
佛言：一日行，常念道、行道，遂得信根，其福無量。
Buddha says: one day action, always remember Tao (way), action Tao (way), slowly get Faith roots, the happiness limitless.
佛言：熟自念身中四大，名自有名都為無，吾我者寄生，生亦不久，其事如幻耳。
Buddha says: know self remember body inside 4 big, name self have name all are nothing, I born temporary this body, born not for long, the things like illusions.
佛言：人隨情欲求華名，譬如燒香。
Buddha says: people according emotion desire seek good name, like burning incense.
眾人聞其香，然香以薰自燒。
The crowd smell the fragrance, but incense for smelling self burn.
愚者貪流俗之名譽，不守道真，華名危己之禍，其悔在後時。
Stupid people greed trendy of reputations, do not guard Tao (way) real, good name danger self of disaster, the regret at later time.
佛言：財色之於人，譬如小兒貪刀刃之蜜，甜不足一食之美，然有截舌之患也。
Buddha says: money & sex for people, like child greed on knife honey, sweet not enough for one meal beautiful, but have cut tongue of disaster.
佛言：人繫於妻子、寶宅之患，甚於牢獄、桎梏、鋃鐺。
Buddha says: people get tied up by wives, treasure house of disasters, even prison, foot chains, hand chains.
牢獄有厡赦，妻子情欲雖有虎口之禍，己猶甘心投焉，其罪無赦。
Prisons have original pardon, wives emotion desire although have tiger mouth of disasters, self willing to go, the sins not pardon.
佛言：愛欲莫甚於色，色之為欲，其大無外。
Buddha says: love desire all but sex, sex is because of desire, the big no outside.
赖有一矣，假其二，普天之民，無能為道者。
Not one, but two, all Heaven people, incapable for Tao (way).
佛言：愛欲之於人，猶執炬火逆風而行。
Buddha says: love desire on people, like torch fire against wind go.
愚者不釋炬，必有燒手之患。
Stupid people do not know torch, definitely have burn hand disasters.
貪婬、恚怒、愚癡之毒，處在人身，不早以道除斯禍者，必有危殃。
Greed adultery, hate angry, stupid infatuation of poisons, inside people body, not early use Tao (way) get rid disasters, definitely have danger disasters.
猶愚貪執炬，自燒其手也。
Like stupid greedy having torch, self burn their hands.
天神獻玉女於佛，欲以試佛意、觀佛道。
Heaven god gift virgin female to Buddha, wish to test Buddha's intention, observe Buddha Tao (way).
佛言：革囊眾穢，爾來何為？
Buddha says: rid pocket all beings dirty, for what reason this is?
以可斯俗，難動六通。
Can for normal custom, difficult move 6 special powers.
去！吾不用爾。
Go! I do not use her.
天神踰敬佛，因問道意，佛為解釋，即得須陀洹。
Heaven god begins respect Buddha, then ask Tao (way) meaning, Buddha for him explain, immediately get Fruit Xu Tuo Huan.
佛言：夫為道者，猶木在水，尋流而行，不左觸岸，亦不右觸岸；不為人所取、不為鬼神所遮，不為洄流所住，亦不腐敗，吾保其入海矣。
Buddha says: person for Tao (way), like wood in water, seeking & flowing, not left touch coast, & not right touch coast; not for others to take, not for ghosts & gods to cover, not for return flow to hold, & not rotten destroy, I guarantee you enter sea.
人為道，不為情欲所惑、不為眾邪所誑，精進無疑，吾保其得道矣。
Person for Tao (way), not for emotions desires to doubt, not for all evils to deceive, concentration advance no doubt, I guarantee you get Tao (way).
佛告沙門：慎無信汝意，意終不可信。
Buddha tells Child Monks: careful thoughts do not believe your thoughts, thoughts finally cannot be trust.
慎無與色會，與色會即禍生。
Careful thoughts not with sex meet, with sex meet then disasters born.
得阿羅漢道，乃可信汝意耳。
Get Sub-Sub-Buddha Tao (way), then can trust your thoughts ear.
佛告諸沙門：慎無視女人，若見無視。
Buddha tells all Child Monks: careful thoughts not see women, if see like no see.
慎無與言，若與言者，勅心在行，曰吾為沙門，處于濁世，當如蓮花不為泥所污。
Careful thoughts not with speak, if with speak, decree heart in action, say I am Child Monk, inside dirty world, should be like lotus flower not for dirt become dirty.
老者以為母，長者以為姊，少者為妹，幼者子，敬之以禮。
Old one see as mother, elder one see as elder sister, young one see as younger sister, baby child see as your child, respect with Rites.
意殊當諦惟觀，自頭至足自視內，彼身何有，唯盛惡露諸不淨種，以釋其意矣。
Thoughts different should be regard only with observation, from head to feet self see within, their body where has, only many evils expose the all not clean seeds, to explain the meaning.
佛言：人為道去情欲，當如草見火，火來已卻。
Buddha says: person for Tao (way) away from emotion desires, should be like grass see fire, fire comes already too late.
道人見愛欲，必當遠之。
Tao (way) person see love desires, definitely should be far away.
佛言：人有患婬，情不止，踞斧刃上，以除其陰。
Buddha says: person has committed adultery, emotion cannot stop, use axe knife cut penis, to get rid of the problem.
佛謂之曰：若斷陰不如斷心，心為功曹，若止功曹，從者都息。
Buddha says: cut-off problem why not cut-off heart, heart is merits heaven, if stop merits heaven, from then all rest.
邪心不止，斷陰何益？
Evil heart not stop, cut-off problem what use?
斯須即死？
Why need to die?
佛言：世俗倒見，如斯癡人。
Buddha says: world custom upside down see, like stupid people.
有婬童女與彼男誓，至期不來而自悔曰：欲吾知爾本，意以思想生，吾不思想爾，即爾而不生。
Have adultery child female & the male make promise, when goal not come then self regret says: desire I know your original form, desire thinking to be born, I do not think of you, & you do not become born.
佛行道聞之，謂沙門曰：記之！此迦葉佛偈，流在俗間。
Buddha action Tao (way) hears this, tells Child Monks: remember! This Disciple Jia Ye Buddha's poem, still spread in custom world.
佛言：人從愛欲生憂，從憂生畏。
Buddha says: people from love desires born worries, from worries born afraids.
無愛即無憂，不憂即無畏。
No love means no worry, no worry means no afraid.
佛言：人為道，譬如一人與萬人戰，被鉀、操兵、出門欲戰，意怯膽弱乃自退走。
Buddha says: person for Tao (way), like one man against 10,000 men fighting, wear armour, practising soldiering, out door wish to fight, thought coward gut weak then self withdraw walk.
或半道還、或格鬪而死、或得大勝還國高遷。
Or half way return, or fight to death, or get big victory & return country in big honour.
夫人能牢持其心，精銳進行，不惑于流俗狂愚之言者，欲減惡盡，必得道矣。
You able strongly hold the heart, concentration sharply advance action, not doubt in practice custom anyhow stupidity of speech person, desire cut evil completely gone, definitely get Tao (way).
有沙門夜誦經甚悲，意有悔疑，欲生思歸。
Have Monk night time recite Scripture very sadly, thinking have regret suspicions, desire born thinking return to mundane.
佛呼沙門問之：汝處于家將何修為？
Buddha calls Monk ask with: you at home how cultivate?
對曰，恒彈琴。
Answer, always play violin.
佛言，絃緩何如？
Buddha says, cord too lose how?
曰不鸣矣。
Says no sound.
絃急何如？
Cord too tight how?
曰聲絕矣。
Says sounds cannot.
急緩得中何如？
Tight & lose get harmony how?
諸音普悲。
All sounds happens.
佛告沙門：學道猶然，執心調適，道可得矣。
Buddha tells Monk: learn Tao (way) the same, administer heart to comfortable level, Tao (way) can get.
佛言：夫人為道，猶所鍛鐵漸深，棄去垢，成器必好。
Buddha says: you lady for Tao (way), like hitting metal more & more hard, abandon away dirt, become good vessel definitely good.
學道以漸深，去心垢，精進就道。
Learn Tao (way) as more & more deep, away heart dirt, concentrate advance is Tao (way).
暴即身疲即意惱，意惱即行退，行退即修罪。
Relax then body tired then thoughts troubled, thoughts troubled then action withdraw backward, action withdraw backward then cultivate sins.
佛言：人為道亦苦，不為道亦苦。
Buddha says: people for Tao (way) is suffering, not for Tao (way) is suffering.
惟人自生至老，自老至病，自病至死，其苦無量。
Only people from born to old, from old to sick, from sick to death, the sufferings limitless.
心惱積罪，生死不息，其苦難說。
Heart troubled accumulate sins, born & death non-stop, the sufferings difficult say.
佛言：夫人離三惡道得為人難。
Buddha says: you lady away from 3 evils Tao (way) get become human difficult.
既得為人，去女即男難。
Then become as human, away female become male difficult.
既得為男，六情完具難。
Then become as male, 6 emotions complete have difficult.
六情已具，生中國難。
6 emotions already complete, born eastern race difficult.
既處中國，值奉佛道難。
Then as eastern race, born meeting Buddha Tao (way) difficult.
既奉佛道，值有道之君難，生菩薩家難。
Then meet Buddha Tao (way), born in have Tao (way) Emperor difficult, born Sub-Buddha house difficult.
既生菩薩家，以心信三尊值佛世難。
Then born Sub-Buddha house, for heart believe 3 gods born in Buddha world difficult.
佛問諸沙門：人命在幾間？
Buddha asks all Monks: person life how long?
對曰：在數日間。
Answer: within few days time.
佛言：子未能為道。
Buddha says: you have not for Tao (way).
復問一沙門：人命在幾間？
Ask again one Monk: person life how long?
對曰：在飯食間。
Answer: within eating meal time.
佛言：子未能為道。
Buddha says: you have not for Tao (way).
復問一沙門：人命在幾間？
Ask again one Monk: person life how long?
對曰：呼吸之間。
Answer: within breathing time.
佛言：善哉！子何謂為道者矣。
Buddha says: goodness! You are for Tao (way).
佛言：弟子去，離吾數千里，憶念吾戒必得道。
Buddha says: Disciple away, away me many thousands miles, remember my Must-Nots definitely get Tao (way).
在吾左側，意在邪，終不得道。
At beside me, thoughts on evil, finally cannot get Tao (way).
其實在行，近而不行，何益萬分耶。
Actually on action, near but no action, what benefit thousand times.
佛言：人為道，猶若食蜜，中邊皆甜。
Buddha says: person for Tao (way), like eating honey, in middle all sweet.
吾經亦爾，其義皆快，行者得道矣。
I been through, the meaning all fast, action person get Tao (way).
佛言：人為道，能拔愛欲之根，譬如摘懸珠，一一摘之，會有盡時。
Buddha says: people for Tao (way), able extract out love desire of root, like getting exotic pearl, one one get, has finished time.
惡盡得道也。
When finished get Tao (way).
佛言：諸沙門行道，當如牛負，行深泥中，疲極，不敢左右顧，離欲離泥，以自蘇息。
Buddha says: all Monks action Tao (way), like loaded cow, action on deep mud inside, extreme tiredness, not dare left right distract, away desire away mud, to self breathe.
沙門視情欲，甚於彼泥，直心念道可免眾苦。
Monks see emotion desire, like the mud, straight heart thought able rid all sufferings.
佛言：吾視諸侯之位如過客，視金玉之寶如礫石，視(曡*)素之好如弊帛。
Buddha says: I see Sub-Emperor position as passing guest, see gold & jade treasure as little rocks, see cotton clothings desire as faulted clothing.
